Are You Spiritually on Fire? : 5 Ways to Keep the Spirit's Fire Burning

When people encounter you, do they see the fire of God’s Spirit burning brightly within you? Does your life reflect Jesus in such a way that others are drawn to Him?

It’s easy to show up as a believer in church—surrounded by others who share our faith, worshipping in unity. But true faith isn’t just about what happens in the church building; it’s about how we live outside of it. Jesus didn’t confine His love and teachings to the synagogue—He went into the streets, among the lost, the broken, and the sinners. If we are spiritually on fire, that fire should be visible in our daily lives, influencing the world around us.

Is Your Fire Burning Brightly?

Being spiritually on fire means being consumed by God’s presence, filled with His love, and allowing His light to shine through you. "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." (Romans 12:11)

But sometimes, our fire starts to fade. We go through motions instead of being led by the Spirit. We show up for church but neglect showing up for God in our daily walk. A true spiritual fire isn’t just about Sunday worship—it’s about a daily lifestyle of faith, love, and obedience.

Signs That Your Fire May Be Dimming:

  • You only feel connected to God at church but struggle outside of it.

  • Your faith is private rather than something that influences others.

  • You’ve become comfortable instead of actively seeking God’s presence.

  • You struggle to love or serve those outside your circle of believers.

How to Keep the Fire Burning

  1. Seek God Daily – Spend time in prayer, worship, and the Word, not just on Sundays. (Matthew 6:33)

  2. Be Bold in Your Faith – Don’t hide your light. Share your testimony, love openly, and reflect Jesus in your actions. (Matthew 5:16)

  3. Love and Serve Others – Jesus’ love was radical and selfless. Let His love flow through you into every interaction. (John 13:34-35)

  4. Surround Yourself with Fire – Fellowship with others who keep their faith burning and encourage you to grow. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

  5. Be a Light in Dark Places – Shine in your workplace, community, and everyday interactions. Church is a refueling station, but your mission is outside its walls.

A fire that isn’t tended to will eventually die out. Stoke the flames of your faith daily, and let the world see the undeniable presence of God in your life.
