When God Plants a Seed: Trusting the Process and Walking in Obedience

There are moments in life when we feel an undeniable nudge—a deep, burning feeling that there is something greater ahead. A purpose. A calling. A dream placed in our hearts by God Himself. But too often, we allow fear, doubt, and the distractions of life to keep us from taking action.

I know this because I lived it.

In 2023, I wrote a journal entry that, at the time, felt like a fleeting reflection of my inner struggle. But today, as I reread those words, I see it for what it truly was—a divine revelation, a seed planted by God that I was too hesitant to water.

My Journal Entry – September 19, 2023, at 10:03 PM

"I'm having this deep burning feeling that there is a great calling on my life, that greater is possible, but I just need to trust and be obedient. I need to be disciplined and sacrifice in order to elevate. I'm on a path of great ascension. My dreams are capable of coming true, but it requires me to believe and trust the process. I know that I have a light that's meant to shine and illuminate others. But it has been so hard to trust my light when I've been surrounded by darkness. I hear God's voice telling me that I will be the change, I will be the key. I will be the launch pad that propels us to the next level. But I've got to trust and be obedient and understand that it won't happen overnight. It will be a long, brutal journey. I will feel like giving up. I will quit at times. But I have to keep going because greater is ahead. It is bigger than me. This is about my family, the example I’m providing to my daughters. I want nothing more than to be a good example, to raise them in love—to make them feel powerful. It will not be easy. It will be painful and messy. I will make mistakes, but the challenge is to keep going. I'm on borrowed time, and when it's all said and done, I want to be able to say I did my best, I was obedient to God's voice, and that I gave it my all."

Wow. Those words were truer then than I even realized. And today, they resonate even deeper.

For years, God was nudging me toward starting this blog—to use my voice, my experiences, my testimony to encourage others. He had already given me the name, the vision, the purpose. But I let excuses hold me back.

  • I don’t have enough time.

  • What if no one reads it?

  • What if I’m judged?

  • Am I even qualified?

But when God calls you, He has already qualified you. His plans will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). The enemy wants us to believe that we are incapable, that we will fail, that no one will listen. But God says otherwise.

If you are feeling that pull toward something greater, let this be your confirmation.

When God is Nudging You, Take Action

If God has placed something on your heart—a gift, a plan, a business, a ministry, a creative endeavor—don’t let fear paralyze you. Here’s how to step into obedience:

  1. Recognize That the Calling is Bigger Than You (Ephesians 2:10)

    • Your purpose is not just about you—it’s about who God wants to reach through you. My calling to write wasn’t just for me; it was for the people He intended to touch through my obedience.

  2. Stop Waiting for the 'Perfect' Time (Ecclesiastes 11:4)

    • If you keep waiting for ideal circumstances, you’ll never start. Start small. Be faithful with what you have now, and God will increase it.

  3. Trust That God Will Equip You (Exodus 4:10-12)

    • Moses doubted his ability to speak, but God reassured him, "I will be with your mouth and teach you what to say." Whatever you feel unqualified for, God will supply.

  4. Push Past Fear and Insecurity (2 Timothy 1:7)

    • The spirit of fear is not from God. Fear will keep you stagnant, but faith will propel you forward.

  5. Pray for Guidance and Clarity (Proverbs 3:5-6)

    • Sometimes, we don’t act because we’re unsure of the next step. Ask God for direction—and move when He speaks.

  6. Make Room for Discipline and Sacrifice (Luke 9:23)

    • Walking in purpose requires commitment. Cut out distractions, make sacrifices, and create space for God’s plan to unfold.

  7. Surround Yourself with Encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25)

    • The right people will push you toward your purpose. Find a community that uplifts and challenges you to stay obedient.

  8. Understand That the Journey Won’t Be Easy (James 1:2-4)

    • Hardship and opposition don’t mean you’re on the wrong path—they mean you’re on the right one. Keep going.

  9. Declare God’s Promises Over Your Life (Jeremiah 29:11)

    • Speak life over your calling. Remind yourself that God has a plan, and it is GOOD.

  10. Just Start (Isaiah 60:1)

  11. "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." The hardest part is taking the first step—but when you do, the path will begin to unfold.

His Plans Will Always Prevail

I remember the spiritual battle I was in when I wrote that journal entry. I was being pulled between following God’s voice and succumbing to distractions. But no matter how long I tried to ignore it, His truth prevailed.

And here I am today—finally stepping into the obedience He called me to years ago.

So now, I ask you:

What has God placed in your heart that you’ve been avoiding?

It’s time to stop running. It’s time to trust, obey, and take action.

Drop a comment below if you need prayer or encouragement. Let’s step into God’s plan—together.
